French 18k "jarretière" diamond and ruby ring
Jarretière means garter and it takes its name because of the resemblance of the shape of the bride's garter. It was a style of engagement ring popular in the 1920s. Mostly it composed of three stones (a central colored stone surrounded by two diamonds). But over the years, the garter ring offers more choices and made up of 5 gems (or even more).
