Antique 9K Yellow Gold Lapis Lazuli Owl Signet Ring

A wonderful Victorian 9K Yellow Gold Lapis Lazuli signet ring engraved with a regal owl perched on a blow horn with a rope motif below it.

The Lapis Lazuli gemstone in a rubover setting, has gold flecks and a deep blue hue akin to Yves Klein's trademark, patented colour, International Klein Blue (IKB). This colour, he believed, had a quality close to pure space, and he associated it with immaterial values beyond what can be seen or touched. He described it as 'a Blue in itself, disengaged from all functional justification'. It is truly eye catching colour and with the carved owl makes this an even more special combination.

The owl is a mystical bird and traditionally is a symbol of the Goddess Athena, wisdom, truth, patience and knowledge. The rope symbolises bond or strength.
