An Antique Georgian era 9K Rose Gold Mourning Ring with a central foil back amethyst cabochon framed by a halo of 17 black faceted jet stones.

The amethyst stone has an unusual cabochon cut that tapers at both ends in opposite directions. It is bezel set with a fine milgrain border.
The ring has a closed back setting and features 17 jet stones that glitter in the light accentuating the purple of the amethyst.

The ring is a lovely example of a memorial jewellery piece and will make a wonderful historical addition to your jewellery collection.

Jet is derived from decaying wood that undergoes extreme pressure and heat and becomes fossilized as a compact black material. Jet was a popular material used in English jewelry and was considerable vogue as jewelry suitable to wear during mourning.
